Regarding the first lecture Empty Installing a web server on your computer

Post  agrim Mon Sep 07, 2009 2:42 am

Hi,
You can install XAMPP. This is basically a package which installs Apache, PHP, MySQL and A few things more all straight in one step.
Its available at http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html

In later lectures however we might see if we can discuss installing each component separately.

hi...when using xampp control panel, there is an option to start the modules(apache, mysql, etc.) as windows services by checking svc.
what does this mean? should we use that option?

Regarding the first lecture Empty service

Post  agrim Tue Sep 08, 2009 1:51 am

Yes you need to check on the "svc" check box to run them as services.
i hope you disabled UAC before installing xampp
this would ensure smooth operation!

Regarding the first lecture Empty new topic

Post  agrim Tue Sep 08, 2009 1:53 am

Next time you can start a "new topic" separately for a new question rather than doing in this further.
This would make it easier for everyone to read.!

Thanks for writing in!
